Understand your coverage
Amazon data availability and history
Available history depends on the source, report, account, marketplace and permissions. ClairInsights requests available periods and keeps the coverage actually loaded visible.

For sellers, vendors and data teams planning reliable comparisons. Confirm the required accounts, report types and periods before starting; a missing period is not zero sales.
Compare source coverage
| Source and account access | History and timing | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Orders and shipments Seller Central | Order and shipment reports use different event dates. Check the requested window and the report’s available history before comparing periods. | Ordered, shipped and cancelled units describe different events. Keep those states separate and check whether tax and shipping are included in each amount. |
| Settlements and fees Seller Central | Settlement reports follow Amazon’s settlement periods. A payout date is different from an order date; use the settlement identifier to distinguish deliveries. | A payout is a net transfer, not revenue. Keep reserves, adjustments, tax and currency separate; investigate unmatched entries before attributing a difference to profit. |
| Inventory and restock Seller Central and FBA | Distinguish stock snapshots from inventory movements. A current snapshot cannot reconstruct a past stock position; historical comparisons need saved observations or a suitable movement report. | Inbound units are not yet sellable stock. Restock suggestions depend on the source’s forecast and do not replace your lead-time, margin and cash constraints. |
| Returns and reimbursements Seller Central, FBA and Seller Fulfilled Prime | Returns, refunds and reimbursements can arrive in different periods. Recent order cohorts may still accumulate returns, so allow comparable observation time. | A returned item, customer refund and seller reimbursement are separate events. Return reasons can suggest a listing mismatch; confirm product facts before changing content. |
| Brand Analytics and retail demand Eligible Seller/Vendor Central brands | Available periods and eligibility differ by report. Search reports can require complete reporting weeks, months or quarters; an arbitrary date range may not be valid. | Search share is different from total demand or advertising attribution. Brand Registry eligibility and the Brand Analytics role affect which reports an account can retrieve. |
| Vendor retail analytics Vendor Central | Vendor reports have their own reporting periods, availability and account permissions. Check the selected reporting view and distributor view before comparing history. | Amazon’s retail sales and your wholesale revenue are different measures. Seller Central and Vendor Central totals require explicit definitions before comparison. |
| Amazon Ads reporting Authorized Amazon Ads profiles | The maximum date range is the span of one request, not the amount of history available. Retention and attribution windows vary by report type and ad product. | Click- and view-attributed conversions follow the selected ad product’s rules. Recent periods can change as conversions arrive; compare the same attribution window and currency. |
| Account, listing and promotion health Seller Central | Listing and account-health reports often describe the state at observation time. Record when the source was retrieved before using it to explain an earlier sales or return trend. | A listing issue is a signal to investigate. Check affected variations and Amazon’s current category rules before applying a content change. |
Three different clocks
- Request range
- The period one report request can cover. Retrieving available history can require several valid requests.
- Source history
- How far back Amazon makes data available for the selected report and access. This limit is separate from how long your data is stored by ClairInsights.
- Freshness
- When data was last retrieved successfully and which business period it covers. A new delivery can contain older activity; later corrections can change a period.
At setup we check the available scope. Missing or delayed periods remain visible and can be requested again while the source provides them. Older exports can be assessed for inclusion after checking their source, period and quality.
